Four Roses “Happy Holidays” OESK Single Barrel Bourbon 18 Year 5 Months 60.7% RS 38-3I

It’s a prefect example of an OESK with the K yeast spices shining! I get hints of the fruit sweetness that the side label suggests but the star of this barrel is the K yeast spice. The sweetness I got was a darker sweetness, plum and ripe cherries.

Woodford Reserve Double Double Oaked In-Depth Review

Woodford’s Double Double Oaked is an easy sipper and very pleasing. The nose and palate are great followed by a medium finish. Again amazed at the concentration of flavors in this lower proofed bourbon.

Four Roses OESF In-Depth Review

The F yeast shines in this barrel and offers a lot with the nose and on the palate but falls short on finish. The lower amount of rye in the E recipe normally allows the yeast aspects to come forward a little more vs the B recipe.

Four Roses OESK Single Barrel Bourbon ME 31-2F

The rye and baking spices are strong with this one. I enjoyed this barrel but did hope for a little more complexity. Really wanted some more oak considering this barrel was aged well over 10 years and there was very little sweetness. This is a good representation of an OESK but it left me wanting…

Four Roses “Kentucky Strong” Single Barrel Bourbon 16 Year 6 Months OESV 58.5% RN 36-3S Review

Taste – Strong oak dominates on first sip followed by ripe berry sweetness. Similar to the aroma, once the oak dissipates I get a lot of spice. Black pepper, leather and a slight caramel sweetness.

King of Kentucky is a concentrated flavor bomb. Oak, tobacco and leather at the start with hints of sweetness that round this out beautifully.

Michter’s 10 year Rye Whiskey 22F2107 46.4% Review

A delightful rye whiskey that I would love to own a bottle of. This didn’t blow my mind but it’s a great pour. The 92.8 proof on this is perfect in combination with the age.

1792 Sweet Wheat Bourbon Review

This is a wheated mashbill bourbon from Barton 1792. Most of the 1792 bourbons have a higher rye mashbill. This is unique as it is their only wheated product that is an annual limited release. This is a non age stated (NAS) bourbon. It’s believed to be in the 6-8 year range. I believe I…

Buffalo Trace Single Barrel Bourbon Trifesta Pick Review

Picked in 2019 for a trio of music festivals held in Louisville, KY. Reddit’s favorite bourbon enthusiast Fred Minnick had a hand in picking this Buffalo Trace pick along with a barrel of Blantons, Four Roses Single Barrel 100 proof, 1792 Full Proof and Peerless. I paid around $30 for this bottle which is right…
