Where can you find E H Taylor Barrel Proof Bourbon?
Good luck. E H Taylor Barrel Proof is uncut, unfiltered and bottled at barrel proof, making this bourbon extremely desirable and hard to find. MSRP is $80 but normally when you find this bottle it will be marked up to well above that. On secondary markets, E H Taylor Barrel Proof can be $350 and up depending on batch. if you are lucky enough to stumble upon one, determining which batch you have can be helpful.
E H Taylor bourbons are made using Buffalo Trace’s low rye mashbill #1 (>10% rye). There is no age statement but E H Taylor Barrel Proof is believed to be aged around 8-10 years, similar to Stagg bourbon.
E H Taylor Barrel Proof is only released once per year, and proof will vary from batch to batch. The batch can be determined by looking at the proof and laser code, normally found etched in the glass somewhere around the bottom of the bottle. Once you know how to read the laser code, you can determine the year the bottle was released. Compare either the proof or year released to the in-depth chart I have put together below.
I do want to point out that two different releases can have the same proof. Batch 3 and batch 11 are both 129.0 proof, so you would have to reference the laser code to know what year that bottle was released.
