Four Roses Limited Edition Percentages, Ages and Recipe List

Four Roses Limited Edition Small Batch Bourbon

Four Roses most anticipated yearly release is their “Four Roses Limited Edition Small Batch”. It normally is released around September and is a blend of different Four Roses recipes to create a special small batch bourbon, usually with high age statements, that you cannot find in a regular Four Roses offering or single barrel. The Four Roses Limited Edition Small Batch was first released in 2008 (2008 and 2009 were named Mariage) and has occurred yearly since then. It is blended together and orchestrated by the master distiller each year, starting with small test batches to hone in on the desired profile and then scaled up for production. These truly are special products and year in and year out some of the best bourbon available period.

Once I had drank numerous of the Four Roses Private Selection Single Barrels and some of the more recent Four Roses Small Batch Limited Editions, I started wondering if I could try and blend some of my own. The older limited edition bottles are extremely rare and I doubt I will have the privilege to try any. I figured I could try and blend some of my Private Selection Single Barrels at home to see what I could come up with. After reading many articles and contacting Four Roses Master Distiller, Brent Elliott, I was able to collect the component composition of each year’s Small Batch Limited Edition proportions. I have never seen this information all collected together and shared in one spot!

Years, ages, percentages and recipes were confirmed via Brent were notated. I added in ABV, bottles released in US and the mutant yeast notes for 2012 and 2013.

One response to “Four Roses Limited Edition Percentages, Ages and Recipe List”

  1. […] These Small Batch Limited Edition bottles are a slog to find locally. So much so that I’ve only seen one, and the store was charging more than what some BTAC bottles go for on secondary. Needless to say that I didn’t go that route. I’ve thankfully since managed to come into a couple samples of Four Roses Small Batch LE followed by three bottles. The one I’m specifically looking at today comes from the highly regarded 2019 batch, comprised of a four-bourbon blend utilizing three recipes, which are as follows (percentages according to Debonair Gentleman): […]
