Picked in 2019 for a trio of music festivals held in Louisville, KY. Reddit’s favorite bourbon enthusiast Fred Minnick had a hand in picking this Buffalo Trace pick along with a barrel of Blantons, Four Roses Single Barrel 100 proof, 1792 Full Proof and Peerless. I paid around $30 for this bottle which is right at MSRP.
Color – Light Amber
Nose – Light oak with quite a bit of vanilla and hints of cinnamon. The vanilla really is the highlight.
Taste – Oak is the primary flavor with good compliments of the cinnamon and vanilla. Light mouthfeel with hardly any alcohol burn at all. A little too thin for my liking.
Finish – Works it’s way down nicely without much burn but a quick finish leaving you wanting more.
Rating – 6/10
Thoughts – This was one of the best Buffalo Trace store picks I’ve had. I enjoyed this and would grab another. An above average bourbon.
